Trap team finshes in top 30 in state
The Rice Lake Ikes Trap team traveled to Cedar Falls, June 10-11, to participate in the Iowa High School Trap Shooting Championships. Nine shooters represented Lake Mills at the tournament: Zach Knudtson, Ryan Dilly, Jacob Rasmussen, Michael Wallin, and Clay Hagen made up the team, while Hunter Tritch, Drae Love, Luke Hershey, and Jace Johnson shot individually.
As a team, they hit a combined 924 out of a possible 1,000 targets, which was good enough to place the team 29th out of roughly 300 teams competing. Zach Knudtson led the team hitting 193 out of a possible 200 targets, and placing himself tied for 34th best shooter in the state.
Zach Knudtson (3), Luke Hershey, Jacob Rasmussen and Michael Wallin each put up at least one perfect 25 for 25 round during the tournament.
“Roger (Christenson) and I were really proud of the ways the boys shot over the weekend,” noted Coach Gary Irons. “The temperature was very hot, which made shooting a little uncomforatable.”
Irons added, “We are really going to miss the four graduated seniors next year, but we have five solid shooters returning.”
