Sifuentes signs with Wartburg
2015-16 Class 1A 195-pound State Wrestling Champion, Slade Sifuentes (above), is surounded by his parents and high school coach, Alex Brandenburg, as he signed his national letter of intent to continue his wrestling career next season at Wartburg College.
In making the decison to attend Wartburg, Sifuentes will be joining a traditional Division III powerhouse. Wartburg has won five of the last six Division III championships, and 10 of the last 14, dating back to 2002.
Monday was a banner day for Sifuentes, as the Iowa Newspaper Association released their All-State Football teams for this past season, and Sifuentes was selected as a receiver for the Class 1A second team—the only Bulldog honored after a 6-3 season, in which Lake Mills narrowly missed out on a playoff berth.
Sifuentes scored 11 touchdowns on the season, seven through the air and four on the ground. He amassed 615 yards receiving, and 118 yards rushing, on only 12 attempts.
