Despite not running a full race, and a number of runners missing due to illlness and injury, Coach Jamie Haugen was pleased with the performance of her runners in their second outing of the season at Belmond-Klemme.
“We were told that the course appeared to be short, and would need to be measured in the morning,” Haugen said. “We could tell by our times, that is was likely there was an error in measuring.”
Despite the short course, Carson Rygh continued his strong sophomore season, by putting up a second place finish. he was followed by Ashten Love, who finished 29th overall.
“We did not have a full team to compete for placing tonight,” Haugen noted. “Carson and Ashten looked really strong, and both had a very good night.” Battling illness, Carter Laugen was the third Bulldog finisher, placing 40th overall. “Carter Laugen is coming off being sick for several days last week, and still put up a really nice run,” Haugen said.
The girls were once again led by Morgan Fritz, who finished in 17th place, as the team had a seventh place finish.
The girls team was also battling illness and injury, as Kendall Kirschbaum battled, while Lily Thompson and Madison Holtan missed the meet.
Haugen commented; Morgan Fritz turned in her best time in a couple of seasons, and she along with Abbey Bray, both placed in the top third (of runners).” She added, “Kendall was feeling under the weather, but ran a great race.”
