Snow Job

Less than 24 hours after the last snowflake fell on Saturday morning, one would not know that Lake Mills had just experienced a snowfall of over 11 inches, if you were wearing blinders and could only see the condition of the streets.
Long a source of community pride, the street crew, once again proved that they shine when facing a challenge of white precipitation, and get the city not only functioning, but practically spotless in short order.
Their job, which typically starts in the wee hours of the morning, depending on the timing of the snow event, is a marathon with all employees chipping in to do their part, to get the city running as if nothing had happened out of the ordinary.
The reason for this is a team effort. The city employees take pride in their work, and understand that their performance reflects directly on them. Residents of town, like having their streets looking good, and do their part—for the most part—by keeping themselves, and their vehicles, out of the way of the clean up crew.
While they do a tremendous job of cleaning up after events such as we experienced late week, they are not perfect. Not all storms are the same, with each presenting its own unique challenges, and they are at the mercy of weather forecasters in planning an attack on each scenario. But, they again work together to address any issues, and address them in a professional and efficient manner.
So, thanks to our city crew for taking their job seriously, and having pride in not only their community, but the work that they do to make it sparkle and shine, as if nothing happened.
