William “Bill” Brooks, Jr.

May 28, 1967 – July 25, 2020

William “Bill” Brooks, 53, passed away, Saturday, July 25, 2020 in Albuquerque, N.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m.,  Aug. 29, at First Baptist Church, Forest City.
Bill was born in Waterloo to William C. Brooks, Kearney, Mo., and mother, Peggy L. Stephens, (Dennis) Lake Mills.
Bill was a graduate of Waterloo West High School. Bill’s career as a butcher and chef allowed him to live in Hawaii, Wisconsin, Missouri and Utah. He was a former owner of Joice and Woden Meat Lockers in Iowa. His love for the ocean led him to Norwegian Cruise lines, where he was a butcher and eventually became Sous Chef.
Bill’s next adventure was his move to Mont Carmel Junction, Utah, where he was Executive Chef at Zion Mountain Ranch and lived the cowboy life. His last position was at Santa Ana Star Casino in New Mexico.
His love for adventure took him to many places where he was a bull rider, sky and scuba diver, fisherman and hunter. He loved his family and had many friends and will be missed.
He is survived by his father and mother, William and Peggy; his daughters: Ashley Cizek (Bryant); and Amanda Brooks Stansbery (Chris); sisters Christina Buckingham (R. Brian), Omaha, Neb.; Julie Disciacca (George), Kearney, Mo.; and Sarah Womack (Wesley), Scarville; six grandchildren: Keegan, Chase, Easton, Jaxon, Tiergan and Brantley, all of Traer; and 12 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael.
