Wendy Hagenson
Wendy Hagenson, 68, Thompson, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at her son’s home in Lake Mills, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 15, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson, with Pastor Joel L. Guttormson and Pastor Zech Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 14, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Thompson.
Wendy Lee (Brackey) Hagenson was born May 1, 1951 in Forest City to Willis and Donna (Halverson) Brackey. Wendy was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson.
She attended Thompson Community School and graduated with the Class of 1969. After high school she babysat, worked at the Thompson Hardware store, The Shopper, Lichtsinn Motors, Lake Mills daycare, and finished her career as a teachers aid at North Iowa School.
On June 14, 1969, Wendy married Allen Eugene Hagenson at Bethany Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born: Scott, Brandon, and Heidi.
During her retirement years, Wendy and Allen enjoyed many pontoon rides with the grandchildren on Clear Lake. Wendy enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, shoe shopping with her mom and sisters, and endless laughs with friends.
Wendy is survived by her sons: Scott (Shelley) Hagenson, Lake Mills; and Brandon (Jean) Hagenson, Kiester, Minn.; a daughter, Heidi (Ron) Van Halle, Fairport, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Peter, Mitchell, Lauren, Sam, Allie and Olivia; her parents, Donna (Don) Anderson, Thompson; sister, Judy (Wayne) Nyguard, Lake Mills; brothers: Jim (Rosemary) Brackey, Thompson; Craig (Lorraine) Brackey, Albert Lea, Minn.; and Wes (Pam) Brackey, Cedar Rapids; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Wendy is preceded in death by her father, Willis Brackey; husband, Allen, in March of 2019; father- and mother-in-law, Marion and Marjorie Hagenson; and nephew and niece, Christopher Nyguard and Grace Lampman.
