Warren “Willy” Edward Willand

Warren “Willy” Edward Willand, 75, Northwood, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Muse Norris Hopice of North Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, Northwood. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. Following the visitation, there will be a gathering from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Northwood VFW. Please join us to if you are able.
Warren was born Sept. 8, 1943 in Mason City, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital to Walter and Ellnora (Anderson) Willand. He graduated from Northwood High School in May 1961. Warren then entered the Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged from the service in 1968.  Warren farmed for many years, worked for Kensett Feed Mill, and, prior to his retirement, Randall’s Transit Mix.
Warren was united in marriage to Harriet Peterson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville, April 25, 1964. To this union Wesley, Sara, and Daniel were born. Warren and Harriet enjoyed many trips to visit Wes and Dan and their families in many parts of the United States while they served in the United States Air Force. They greatly enjoyed attending many of their grandchildren’s events. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, spending time with friends and family and fishing.
Warren is survived by his children: Wesley Willand, Cheney, Wash.; Sara (Dan) Jacobs, St. Ansgar; Daniel (Jennifer) Willand, Northwood; grandchildren: Spencer, Walter, Skyler, Elizabeth, Ian, Sawyer, Alex and Sage; great-grandson, Race; step-grandchildren: Jamie, Brenna and Joey; step-great-grandson, Lincoln; brother, Ward (Emilie) Willand; sister-in-law, Beverly Grotsun; brother-in-law, Homer (Penny) Peterson; and sister-in-law, Linda Peterson; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; parents, Walter and Ellnora Willand; brother, Wayne Willand; sister, Marcia Willand; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Alice Peterson; sister-in-law, Joyce Willand; and brother-in-law Harlan Peterson.
