Thomas Gene Severson

Tom Severson, 68, Joice, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Webster City. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Joice, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. His family will meet and greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Graveside service will take place at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Washington Lutheran Cemetery (3107 250th Street), Duncombe. All are welcome. Military Rites by American Legion Post #191. His family suggests that memorials be sent to Bethany Lutheran Church, Window Fund, 201 Franke Street, Joice, Iowa 50446.
Thomas Gene (Tom) Severson was born Feb. 6, 1948 at Duncombe, the son of Martin Engel and Minnie Inger (Olson) Severson.
He graduated from Webster City High School Class of 1966. He was in the National Guard. And was a dedicated employee of Northwestern Bell, US West, Qwest and FSH Telephone Companies for 36 years.
Tom married Cheryl Sue Abrahamsen and together had three lovely daughters, Jennifer, Laura and Carrie.
On Aug. 1, 1992, he was united in marriage to Audrey Fay (Nelson) Peik at Edgewater Park in Albert Lea, Minn., by Pastor Fricke.
Tom’s joy was taking care of his beautiful acreage. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and wintering in Gulf Shores, Ala. with Audrey.
Tom’s three girls and their families were his pride and joy.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Audrey, Joice; daughters: Jennifer (Brian) VanLangen, Blairsburg; Laura (Jeromy) Estlund, Webster City; Carrie (Jeff) Shepard, Gypsum, Colo.; stepdaughter, Valerie (Steve) Mooney, St. Paul, Minn.; his grandchildren: Brandon and Bryce VanLangen, Lydia, Evan, Luke and Eli Estlund, Omie Shepard, and future granddaughter Shepard, Andrew and Ella Mooney.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother in infancy; another sister, Elaine Severson Smoke; one brother, Wayne Severson; and stepson, Daniel Christopher Peik.
