Thelma Senora Brunsvold
Thelma Senora Brunsvold, 99, Lake Mills, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Lake Mills Care Center of complications of dementia. A memorial service was held Sunday, June 11, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kensett. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, PO Box 38, Kensett, Iowa 50448.
Thelma Senora (Sanvik) Brunsvold was born Dec. 9, 1917, in rural Silver Lake Township, the daughter of George and Minnie (Sunsvold) Sanvik. Senora was baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. She received her education at country school in rural Silver Lake Township.
She was united in marriage to Eldon Brunsvold and to this marriage, one daughter was born, Donna, March 8, 1939.
Senora was a hard worker. She took great pride in the appearance of her home and the quality of her cooking. As a farmwife, she spent her days preparing food for the men and tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She worked for many years at Deluxe, later known as Fleetguard, retiring July 1, 1980.
Senora was a member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, and attended worship service for many years at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills. She was very active in circle and Ladies Aid, now known as WELCA.
In November, 2009, Senora entered the Lake Mills Care Center and it became her new home.
Survivors include two grandsons: Kevin Chose; and Jeff and Sheila Chose; three great granddaughters: Taylor, Krystal (Adam) and Abby; and many nieces and nephews.
Senora is preceded in death by her parents; husband Eldon in 1978; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roger Chose; sisters and spouses: Gilma Pyle Carey and husbands ,Cleo Pyle and Orville Carey; Margaret and Jimmy McQuatters; Gladys and Charles Anderson; Arlene and Raymond Alitz; and Eleanor and Chester Stomley; and Lorraine Sanvik in infancy.
