Russell Keltner

Russell Keltner, 81, Alden, passed away Thursday Dec. 7, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 15, at St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story City, with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. Internment will be at a later date. Adams Sodrstrom Funral Home ws in charge of arrangements.
Russell Glen Keltner was born March 23, 1936 in Ames, to and Dorothy (Jacobs) Keltner. Russ graduated from Ames High School and served in the Marine Corp Reserves.
Russ worked in the industrial field in the Ames area until October of 1972, when he moved his family to Lake Mills after he excepted a job at Winnebago Industries, Forest City. Russ later owned and operated Keltner Cemetery Service. He retired from Dan Foss, Ames. After retiring, he worked part-time at the rest area south of Story City.
He married Charlene (Johnson) in May of 1958. They had two children, Jodie and Lance. Russ later married Karen Pike and they resided on an acreage near Alden.
Russ was involved in archery, target shooting, hunting and fishing. He participated in the Iowa Games, where he earned several first place finishes in archery. Russ also enjoyed looking after his chickens, and his acreage, he loved the outdoors.
Russ is survived by his daughter, Jodie (Geoffrey) Anderson, Leland; son, Lance (Angie) Keltner, Story City: four grandchildren: Garrett (Sara) Anderson, Leland; Jennifer Anderson, Forest City; Cole Keltner and Kailee Keltner, both of Story City; great-grandchildren: Jakobe, Gavin and Sydney Anderson. He is also survived by Karen’s children: Ariann (Ken) Kasper, and Abby (Rick) Folkerts, both of Forest City; and Ken Pike, New Jersey; and eight grandchildren; sisters: Judy (Rex) Morrison, Collins; and Bonnie (Jim ) Hines, Batavia, Ill.: two aunts: Donna Jacobs and Wanda Rhato; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, Karen in 2016; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
