Roy Lon Sletten
Roy Lon Sletten, 57, Lake Mills, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City. Private memorial services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. The memorial service will be livestreamed on the Schott Funeral Homes website and facebook page for all to view. Inurnment will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills.
Roy Lon Sletten was born in Forest City, March 16, 1963, son of Richard and Arlene (Schultz) Sletten. He was baptized at North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Scarville. Roy was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville. He and his siblings grew up on a farm northwest of Leland. He attended Lake Mills Community Schools, graduating in 1981.
Roy was introduced to Becky, by her brother, Mike Hagen. Mike and Roy had been friends for many years. Roy and Becky, daughter of, Eldon and Shirley Hagen, were married Sept. 12, 1998 at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills. Roy had worked at Winnebago Industries for many years. He also worked part-5ime at Larson’s Manufacturing.
When all the Slettens got together during the holidays and other family gatherings, board games and the music were always a big part of the occasions. Roy was especially good at trivia games. He loved spending time with his family and all of his friends. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Becky: children: Melody (Andrew) Eggerth, and Heather Price; grandchildren: Makaya, Kailyn; Alex (Katelyn) Cullip; Ariana Eggerth, Bladen Eggerth, and Carissa Eggerth; great-grandchildren: Amelia Cullip and Greyson Cullip; siblings: James (Dagmar) Sletten, Neal (Gaye) Sletten, Clyde Sletten, Diane Sletten; Becky’s family—sister, Sherri (Dean) Hylland; sister, Patricia (Mike) Meyer; brother, Mike (Jana) Hagen; and sister, Heidi (Danny) Christenson; Roy’s special uncle, Dale Schultz; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Arlene; and his baby sister, Joy.
