Roxanne Lee Irons

Roxanne L. Irons, 59, rural Lake Mills, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 1, 2018 at her home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Visitation will be 3:30-7 p.m., Friday evening, March 9, at Salem Lutheran Church, and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Cremation will take place after the funeral service and inurnment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery, Lake Mills, at a later date. The family suggests that memorials be made to The ALS Association Iowa Chapter, 3636 Westown Parkway, Suite 204, West Des Moines, Iowa 50266 or to the Christian radio station of your choice. Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
Roxanne Lee Curry was born April 3, 1958. to Franklin and Donna (Brings) Curry in Richfield, Minn. She attended Richfield High School, graduating in 1976. She earned her Music Teaching Degree from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., in 1980. She began her teaching career in Red Wing, Minn., where she taught one year. She spent the next two years teaching in White Bear Lake, Minn. She spent her last 35 years teaching in Albert Lea, Minn., where she retired this past year.
Roxanne was married to Gary Irons on Aug. 17, 1991, in Albert Lea. The couple moved to an acreage in rural Lake Mills, where they had three boys: Benjamin, Noah, and Gabriel. Roxanne was an elementary music teacher, and she also enjoyed acting in the Albert Lea Community Theater. This is where she met Gary during the play, “Once Upon a Mattress.”
She and Gary were members of Asbury United Methodist Church, Lake Mills, where she played piano, sang and directed the choir. She spent most of her time with her children. She never missed an event that her children participated in. Roxanne loved wearing purple and gold, along with her buttons. Roxanne loved being a “wrestling mom” and sitting with her friends cheering on the Bulldogs. Her greatest joys were being a mother, raising her children and loving the Lord.  
Left to cherish her memory are husband, Gary Irons; children: Ben (Jillian), Noah, and Gabe; brother, David (Jill) Curry, New Ulm, Minn., and their sons, Jonathon and Erik; sister-in-law, Carmel (Keith) Anderson, Ketchikan, Alaska, and their daughters, Eliah and Ezrie; sister-in-law Shelley (Kurt) Michalicek, Duluth, Minn., and their sons, Jason (Sara), Ryan and Kyle; father- and mother-in-law, Willis and Betty Irons, Tower, Minn.; her church family, and community members.
Roxanne is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Donna Curry; and her grandparents: Donald and Julia Brings; and Allen and Hazel Curry.
