Ronald Joseph Engstler

Ronald Joseph Engstler, 79, passed away at his home in Lake Mills, Friday, Jan. 27, 2017.Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Saint James Catholic Church, Forest City, with Father James Dubert officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 30, from 5-7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and again at the church one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at a later date.
Ronald Joseph Engstler was born July 11, 1937 in Mason City, the son of Alfred Stephen and Rose (Dankbar) Engstler.
Ron farmed for many years and later worked at Winnebago Industries and in the Value Added Center with 3M, Forest City.
Ron loved farming and feeding cattle. He was known for driving around to check out the crops. He was an avid story teller, enjoyed visiting with people, having coffee with friends, and spending time at the casino playing slots. He loved fishing and hanging out at the library reading papers to stay up on current events. He loved his dog, Keisha, who went everywhere with him. You could find him attending area community celebrations hanging out with his buddies. But most of all, he adored his life partner, Ila Peterson, for over 30 years.
His memory is cherished by Ila Peterson, Lake Mills; siblings: Charlene East, June (Homer) Van Oort, and Russell (Monita) Engstler, all of Garner; Duane (Mary Lou) Engstler, Britt; Ila’s family: Maynard (Barbara) Peterson, Joice; Judy (Jerome) Hermanson, Lake Mills; Karen (Duane) Moe, Forest City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and his dog (best friend), Keisha, just four months ago.
