Robert “Bob” Garth Hanna
Robert “Bob” Garth Hanna, 58, Owatonna, Minn., passed away of natural causes Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020 at home. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna, from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery.
Bob was born May 5, 1962 in Forest City, the son of Reuben and Eleanor (Swenson) Hanna. He grew up on a farm near Lake Mills. He graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1980, where he played football and wrestled.
Following his schooling, he worked on a farm for Don Grotewold, near Lake Mills. He then began his 33-year career at Viracon, where he was currently employed.
On June 26, 1987, he married Sandy Stover at North Prairie Lutheran Church, Scarville. The couple began raising their three children—Stephanie, Amanda and Spencer—in Owatonna, where they lived for nine years. They then moved to a hobby farm near Geneva and later divorced. In 2018, Bob moved back to Owatonna.
Bob enjoyed woodworking, golfing, ice fishing, pheasant hunting, camping and spending time with friends. He especially enjoyed the spontaneous visits from his family.
He is a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna, and a current member of Community Lutheran Church, Geneva.
He is survived by his children: Amanda (Mike Sanders) Hanna, Lino Lakes, Minn.; and Spencer (Cassie) Hanna, Dodge Center, Minn.; former wife, Sandy Hanna, Albert Lea, Minn.; siblings: Doug (Candy) Hanna, Lake Mills; Claran (Daryl) Stevens, Albert Lea, Minn.; Marcia (Joe) Holt, Lake Mills; John (Cortnie) Hanna, Lake Mills; Janet (Kevin) Hebrink, Lake Mills; and Lisa (Terry) Durby, Leland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Reuben and Eleanor; and daughter, Stephanie Hanna.
