Noreen L. Heimdal

Noreen L. Heimdal, 68, Lake Mills, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating.Visitation will be on Monday, April 4, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Inurnment will take place in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lake Mills.
Noreen L. (Anderson) Heimdal was born on December 15, 1947, at the Forest City Hospital, the daughter of Norris and Ilene (Walkner) Anderson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member.  Noreen attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1966.
On September 1, 1967, Noreen was united in marriage with Gary Heimdal at Brandon, South Dakota.  To this union, three children were born: Tracy, Darcy and Rod.
Noreen had an upholstery shop in her home for several years before going to work at Universal Circuits in 1981.  After which, she worked at Redinger Drug in Lake Mills, retiring in 2010.  She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, and had been a Brownie Scout leader when her children were young.
She enjoyed all types of crafts including needlework, sewing, and woodcrafting.  She especially enjoyed the time she and Gary spent camping at Bulrush Bay Resort at Shieldsville, Minnesota.  She also treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
Noreen is survived by her husband, Gary of Lake Mills; three children, Tracy (Chad) Doyle of Lake Mills, Darcy (Jim) Roeder of Buffalo Center, and Rod (Leslie) Heimdal of Lake Mills; nine grandchildren, Zac (Chelsea) Thompson, Jake (Genna) Thompson, Jenny Thompson, Gary Thompson, Kristen (Ian Stockberger) Cavett, Jamie Roeder, Willie Roeder, Bobby Roeder, and Holly (Alex) Rops; and five great-grandchildren, Axl Campbell, Lincoln Campbell, Karlie Thompson, Caitlyn Rops, and J.D. Thompson, and one great-grandson on the way.  She is also survived by three brothers and two sisters, Glenn (Glenda) Anderson, Erbin (Sue) Anderson, Robert Anderson, Diane (Paul) Smith, and Sheryl (Dan) Bell; sister-in-law, Linda (Don) James; brother-in-law, Tom Heimdal; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Norris and Ilene Anderson; in-laws Herbert and Lola Heimdal; brother-in-law Gerald Heimdal; and a nephew Gary Anderson.
