Nancy C. Anderson
Nancy C. Anderson, 81, rural Joice, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019 at her home. Visitation for Nancy will be today (Wednesday), Sept. 4, from 5-7 p.m., at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Joice, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, rural Emmons, Minn.
Nancy Carol (Chrs) Anderson was born April 19, 1938 in Albert Lea, Minn., to parents Eddie Anton and Netta Bertina (Madson) Chrs. She attended country school #116 near Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Following high school, she completed cosmetology school in Austin, Minn., after which, Nancy opened her own salon in Emmons.
On Oct. 18, 1959 Nancy and Roger W. Anderson were wed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Myrtle, Minn. They lived with Roger’s grandma Erickson south of Emmons until 1968, when they purchased a farm south of Joice. The couple was blessed with two children, Julie Ann in 1969 and James Allen in 1975.
Nancy worked for Fleetguard Industries, Lake Mills, in addition to helping Roger farm.
She loved to play cards, camp (they hosted a campground in Minnesota for a number of years), fish, cook (making kolaches), and quilt. Nancy was a member of the Top of Iowa Quilt Club.
Over the years Nancy had health struggles but always managed to keep her sense of humor. Her quick wit and wonderful smile will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Roger, Joice; daughter, Julie Leonard, and son, James Anderson, both of Joice; her favorite grandson, Patrick Leonard; and a brother, Edward Chrs and his wife, Mary; a sister, Betty Ann Brooks; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: sister, Marjorie and Merlin Calgaard; sister, Beverly and Amos Farr; and brother-in-law, Richard Brooks.
