Mike was born July 8, 1961 at Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Minn., to Dick and Ardis Swenson, Thompson.
Mike attended school in Thompson and graduated from there in 1980. He then attended Ellsworth Community College and Iowa State University, graduating in 1985, with a degree in Marketing.
He spent his professional career in various fields from management, insurance and IT. His latest position was with the State of Iowa. He enjoyed it very much and especially the people he met there. He was so grateful to them for the opportunity and for their compassion they showed him and his family when he became ill last year. They are truly a special group. He also very much enjoyed the time he spent at Ramco Innovations helping out in the shop there in recent months. The time he spent with Ramco in the shop was a blessing.
Mike was a talented woodworker. He spent many hours building adirondak chairs and benches. He enjoyed making them for family and friends.
Mike’s main love and passion were for his family, his wife, Joan, and their twins, John (Jack) and his Annika. He loved attending their activities from baseball, wrestling, soccer, school plays and concerts. They were his number one priority. They were his world.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Joan Swenson; his children: John and Annika, West Des Moines; and his parents, Dick and Ardis Swenson, Thompson.
