Michael John Jamtgaard

Michael J. Jamtgaard, 52, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at his home in Lake Mills.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Rev. Steven Bang officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Garner, Iowa.
Memorial visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2016, from 4-7 p.m., at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Michael John Jamtgaard was born February 3, 1964, in Mason City, Iowa, to parents Orval and Jeanine (Jones) Jamtgaard. He was baptized at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.  Mike attended and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1982.
Following high school, Mike had been employed at Winnebago Industries, Budget Building, and was currently employed at Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills.
Mike married Diane Zeran in 1985 and they had Joseph; their marriage ended in divorce, and in 1997, Mike was wed to Lois Brackey. Mike and Lois became the parents of Samantha and Christopher.  Mike and Lois were also later divorced.
“Jammer” had hobbies that included blacksmithing with his grandfather, camping, fishing, and being involved with the Lake Mills Fire Department. He had been an active member of the LMFD since 2000.
He is survived by Carol Weaver and her son, Aaron, Lake Mills; his three children: Joseph (Jackie) Jamtgaard, Samantha Jamtgaard, and Christopher Jamtgaard, all of Lake Mills; his mother, Jeanine Jamtgaard, Mason City; father, Gene (Jan) Jamtgaard, Jr., West Plaines, Mo.; and his brother, Mark (Carmen) Jamtgaard, niece, Katherine, and nephew, Zephyr, all of Britt. Mike is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
