Mark Alan Bernau
Mark Alan Bernau, 61, Madison, Wis., formerly of Emmons, Minn., passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2020. A private family service will be held.
Mark was born Jan. 16, 1959, at Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Minn., to parents Otto and Alice (Wagner) Bernau. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville. He attended Emmons Public School and graduated in May of 1977.
On Aug. 19, 2000, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Pasley. They made their home in Madison, Wis., with Cynthia’s son and Mark’s stepson, Mark Hopperstad.
Mark worked at Walgreens Distribution Center for 18 years and recently at Milwaukee Tools. He had many interests and hobbies. He was a big sports fan and loved watching the Vikings and Twins. He enjoyed playing fantasy football and baseball. Mark was in Albert Lea Golden Gloves Boxing and played dart ball on the Immanuel Church’s team.
Mark will always be remembered for his kindness, his thirst for knowledge, and his presence and support for loved ones.
Mark is survived and will be missed by his brother, Merrill (Debi) Bernau, Emmons, Minn., and their children, Tracy (Jeff) Honsey, and their children Michelle (fiancé Gabe Phillips), Amanda, and Noah, Medford, Minn., Andy (Jan) Bernau and their children, Alicia, Addison and one more on the way, Glenville, Minn.; his brother, Martin (Julie) Bernau, Alden, Minn., and their daughter, Emily (Jordan) Bohonek, and their children, Lauren and Reed, Albert Lea, Minn.; sister-in-law, Susan Bernau, Des Moines, and children, Matthew (Megan) Bernau, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Rachel (Derek) Francart and their children, Lukas and Amanda, Rising Sun, Md.; Lindsey (Sean) Maher and their children, Caroline and Laiden, Claremont, Minn.; Cynthia Bernau and stepson, Mark Hopperstad, Madison, Wis. and several relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Alice Bernau; brother, Marvin Bernau; and nephew, Nicholas Bernau.
