Marian Peterson Brown
Marian Peterson Brown, 86, Lynchburg, Va., passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Heartland Health Care Center, Lynchburg. She and her husband, Phil, shared 59 wonderful years together. A Celebration of Marian’s life was conducted Sunday, Jan. 6, at Timberlake United Methodist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Timberlake United Methodist Church Congregational Care Ministry, 21649 Timberlake Rd., Lynchburg, Va. 24502. or a charity of your choice.
Born in Lake Mills, Marian was the daughter of the late Peter Tobias Peterson and the late Julia Kloster Peterson.
Marian was an active member of Timberlake United Methodist Church and a retired teacher from the Lynchburg Public School System. She also taught school in Iowa, Colorado, and Minnesota and was an active member of the Woman’s Club of Lynchburg. She was co-founder and played the keyboard in the Irish Girls Sing-Along Group, performing in area nursing and assisted living homes for the past 18 years. She loved cooking and traveling, especially motorcycling with Phil.
In addition to her husband, Phillip Lowell Brown, she is survived by two children: Kasia B. Moghaddam and her husband, Cameron, Potomac Falls, Va.; and Gregoire L. Brown, Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren: Kayla Moghaddam and Keenan Moghaddam; and one brother, Parnell Peterson and his wife, Mary, Mason City.
