Lori Janean Kranz Carrillo
Lori J. Carrillo, 64, Lake Mills, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City. A funeral for Lori will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, at Schott Funeral Homes-Mittelstadt Chapel, 902 E. Lake Mills, with Pastor Ryan Henkel officiating.Visitation will be today (Wednesday), Jan. 25, from 5-7 p.m., at Schott Funeral Homes-Mittelstadt Chapel, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will take place at Bear Lake Cemetery, rural Albert Lea, Minn.
Lori Janean (Kranz) Carrillo was born Oct. 28, 1958 near Brainerd, Minn., to parents Gordon and Lorraine (Mikkelson) Kranz. She was baptized and confirmed at Bear Lake Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea, Minn. Lori attended grade school in Albert Lea and graduated from Emmons High School in 1977. Following graduation, she began working for Deluxe Products, Lake Mills.
It was at the fair that she was introduced to Jim Underwood. She eventually followed him to Louisiana and the couple had two sons: Jimmie and Jamie. In Louisiana, Lori worked various retail sales and customer service jobs. When Jim passed away in 2010, Lori and her boys moved to Lake Mills to be closer to family.
Lori enjoyed listening to music, playing games on Facebook, watching sporting events when her boys were in school, and sitting outside when the weather was nice. She had a quiet demeanor and loved her boys unconditionally.
She will be missed by her two sons: Jimmie “JJ” Underwood and Jamie Underwood, both of Lake Mills; two brothers: Ray (Pam) Folven and Merle Folven, both of Emmons, Minn.; nieces and nephews: Lance Henderson, Jessica Davis, Michael Henderson, Samantha Dolsen, Jon Folven and Nathanial Folven; two aunts: Bertha Campbell and Rose Wales; two uncles: Harlan Olson and John Wales; and many cousins and friends.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents; partner, Jim Underwood, in 2010; brother, Randy Folven; sister, Patricia Henderson; her grandparents; an aunt, Sandra Olson; an uncle, Basil Wales; and a cousin, Holly (Olson) Corrigan.
