Larry Dean Michaelson
Larry Michaelson, 81, Rochester, Minn., formerly of Lake Mills, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at Cottagewood, Rochester, Minn., surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 24, at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Joice, with Pastor Kevin Olson officiating.Military rites were performed by Lake Mills Otto/Chose Post #235. Burial was held in Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church Cemetery. Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, was in charge of arrangements.
Larry Dean Michaelson was born June 17, 1936, in Thompson, to parents, Harold and Irma (Friesenborg) Michaelson. He attended and graduated from Crystal Lake High School with the Class of 1955.
Larry served in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1961. He was stationed at Fort Dix, N.J.
He was united in marriage with Donna Wolters, Jan. 27, 1962 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Larry farmed for 47 years and always enjoyed his horses, providing wedding rides, hayrides, and sleigh rides throughout the years.
Larry loved the Lord and his family and had a very special place in his heart for his four dear grandchildren. He considered everything else a blessing. He had a kind heart and was known for his bright blue eyes and genuine smile.
Survivors include his wife Donna, Rochester, Minn.; two children: Jill (Scott) Huerter, Rochester Minn.; and Dean (Dana) Michaelson, Creston; four grandchildren: Tyler (Lonna) Huerter, Brooke (Matt) Sorenson, Angela Phipps, and Brandon Phipps; two brothers: Jerry Michaelson, Leland, and Howard (Elaine) Michaelson, Buffalo Center; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Linda Olson (David Olson), Phoenix, Ariz.; Gary (Rachel) Wolters, Forest City; and David Wolters, Belmond; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Roger Olson; and sister-in-law Peggy Wolters.
