JoAnn Lucille Pederson

JoAnn Lucille Pederson, 80, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at her home in Des Moines. A funeral service for JoAnn will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will take place in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Scarville. Her family will be at church to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Schott Funeral Homes, Mittelstadt Chapel, Lake Mills, is assisting the family with arrangements.

JoAnn Lucille Pederson was born Aug. 8, 1942 in Forest City, to parents Otto S. and Hazel L. (Iverson) Pederson. She was a 1960 graduate of Lake Mills High School and went on to work as a secretary at Deluxe Products in Lake Mills.

After a short time at Deluxe, JoAnn moved to Des Moines where she took a position with “Look” magazine, and ultimately became a secretary for the Des Moines public school system. JoAnn was very dedicated to her job and was such a perfectionist that she could often be found at work on the weekends, just to make sure all tasks were completed before Monday.

An avid sports enthusiast, JoAnn grew up watching her brothers play high school sports, she enjoyed bowling in her younger years, and she loved those Iowa Hawkeyes! Through the years, she even began to show support for the Chicago Cubs, possibly under duress from her brother Butch.

JoAnn was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne “Butch” Pederson, Hoffman Estates, Ill.; sister, Linda (Doug) Thompson, Albert Lea, Minn.; sister-in-law, Jean Pederson, Lake Mills; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Hazel; her brother, Ronald Pederson in 2021; and a sister-in-law, Roylene Pederson.
