James “Jim” Robert Humphrey

March 9, 1956 – October 19, 2020

James (Jim) Robert Humphrey, 64, passed away Monday, Oct. 19, at New Ulm Medical Center, New Ulm, Minn, after a short battle with cancer. A private family service will be held at a future date and burial will be at Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Mills.
Jim was born March 9, 1956 in Albert Lea, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed at Lake Mills Evangelical (Synod) Church. He was a graduate of Lake Mills Community School and South Central Technical College. He retired as a Cell Coordinator at the 3M facility, New Ulm, Minn.
Jim was known for his wit and spunk. He was highly skilled at music, math and researching ancestry information. He had many interests and talents, but playing keyboards was his passion. Jim had “perfect pitch” and the ability to play, compose and transpose music. He could literally sit in on most styles of music and play along.
Jim will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. His family and friends were very important to him. He was a private and caring person who always wanted to know how and what you were doing; never himself.
Jim is survived by his two children: Stephanie and Nathan, New Ulm, Minn.; mother, Gladys Humphrey; brother, William (Karen) Humphrey; and sister, Mary (Orlan) Lau, all of Lake Mills; aunt, Cleo McKim, Mt. Pleasant; uncles: Robert (Karen) Humphrey, Clear Lake; and Orvin Peterson, Waterloo; along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Leighton Humphrey; and brother, Stephen Humphrey.
