Gary R. Johnson

Gary Rodney Johnson, 79, Brooklyn Center, Minn., passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osseo, Wis. Live streaming at www.oelc.org. Interment will take place in the Osseo Cemetery. Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, Wis., assisted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Osseo Lutheran Church or American Legion, Osseo, Wis.
Gary was born Feb. 25, 1941 on the family farm near Lake Mills, the son of Palmer and Leona (Brua) Johnson. He attended school in Lake Mills, until his parents moved to Wisconsin.
Gary attended the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, and Normandale College. Gary served during the Vietnam War and maintained military affiliations and friends. He was retired from the postal service in Minneapolis, Minn.
Gary was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage. He contributed to many nonprofit organizations and was a proud Democrat.
Gary is survived by his siblings: Sandra (Loren) Jacobson, Eau Claire, Wis.; and Jean Deatrick (Eldon Feist), Minneapolis, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Sandra, in 2012.
