Garald Allen Ryerson
Garald Allen Ryerson, 67, Lake Mills, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at his home. Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Military rites will be performed by Lake Mills Otto/Chose American Legion Post #235. Garald’s family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Elk Creek Cemetery, rural Kensett.
Garald Allen Ryerson was born Sept. 21, 1949 in Belmond, the son of Lawrence and Evelyn Teldora (Johnson) Ryerson. Garald attended both Lake Mills, and Northwood schools and graduated from Northwood High School in 1967.
After high school, Garald was drafted in to the United States Army where he served his country from 1968 to 1970. After the service he worked as a self-employed carpenter. He was very proud of his meticulous work.
Garald loved playing baseball and watching football and spent many summer days fishing at the cabin on Leech Lake.
He is survived by his sisters: Dorothy (Terrence) Rose,Walker, Minn.; Carolyn (Mike) Strub, Engleside, Ill.; Renae Ryerson, Breda; and Kimberly Halvorsen, Lake Mills; brother, Leslie Earl Ryerson, Mason City; one uncle, Larry (Sherri) Johnson, Lubbock, Texas; along with 17 nieces and nephews; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; and a multitude of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters: Janise Bendickson, Luann Ryerson and Sherry Benson.
