Evelyn Tordoff

March 3, 1920 – February 20, 2020

Evelyn Tordoff, 99, Lake Mills, formerly of Thompson, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 at the Lake Mills Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Lake Mills, with Pastor Rob Lanphere officiating.  Burial will take place in Sunnyside Cemetery, Lake Mills.Visitation with Evelyn’s family will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Evelyn Tordoff was born March 3, 1920 on a farm near Schaller.  She was the second daughter of John and Edna (Bloyer) Caboth.  Evelyn attended country school until her family moved to Armstrong.  She graduated from Armstrong Iowa High School in 1938.
On May 28, 1938, she married Russel Tordoff in Gruver.  They resided and farmed in Dolliver until 1946, when they moved to Lake Mills to raise their family and farm.   She worked at the Winnebago County Home in edition to helping Russel farm.
 In 1969, she and Russel moved to Thompson.  Evelyn worked as a cook at the Thompson school until 2000.  She was a member of the Methodist Church, a 4H leader, active in Farm Bureau, and member of the Odd Fellows Lodge as a Rebecca.  
Hobbies included sewing and gardening, She loved horses and milking cows.  She was most proud of both competing in the Iowa State High School Basketball Tournament in 1937 and her family.  
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons: Russel and wife, JoAnn (Holtan) Tordoff, Glenville, Minn.; and Roger and wife, Sandra (Johnson) Tordoff, Belleville, Wis.; seven grandchildren: Robert Schwartz (Kris Mathison), Scott Schwartz (Anthionette Bacacao), Angela (Hegel) Becker, Laura (Tordoff) Behnken (Brian) Paul Tordoff (Karen Eskola), Brad Tordoff, Stacy (Tordoff) Baker (Eric); 16 great-grandchildren: Cole and Lydia Schwartz, Tara (Hennigar) Spoelstra (Jeff), Stephan Schwartz (Erin Mullenbach), Sable (Schwartz) Storby (Michael), Alexis and Jasmine Schwartz, Chance, Maxwell and Sydney Becker, Rachel (Behnken) Rejniak (Benjamin), Hannah Behnken, Grace and Elias Tordoff,  James andEvan Baker: six great-great-grandchildren: Tyler and Eliot Spoelstra, Adrian and Weston Schwartz, Scout and Maddox Storby; one sister, Marjorie (Caboth) Randol, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her parents precede her in death; along with husband, Russel Tordoff (1994); daughter, Sharon Lee (Tordoff) Schwartz Hegel (2015); sisters: Mildred (Caboth) Porter (2012), Bonnie (Caboth) Rike (1995): and one brother, Loyd Harold Caboth (1951).
