Elaine A. Aamodt

Elaine A. Aamodt, age 90, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at her home in Lake Mills. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with Pastor Joel L. Guttormson officiating.  Inurnment will be in Salem Memorial Cemetery.
Elaine Ardella (Thompson) Aamodt was born on July 25, 1925 to Horace and Caroline (Maakestad) Thompson of Leland, Iowa.
She was baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church and confirmed at Concordia Church by Reverend L.F. Scheie. Elaine graduated from Joice High School and attended Waldorf College. She worked at 1st National Bank in Mason City until getting married to Orian Jerome Aamodt at Concordia Lutheran Church on March 16, 1948. The loving couple farmed west of Lake Mills for 40 years. 23 of which Elaine also spent working in the City Clerk’s Office before retiring with her husband in 1990. The two eventually moved into Lake Mills putting them closer family and friends.
Elaine was an active member at Salem Lutheran Church for over 68 years. Not one to sit idle, she participated in church circle and WELCA, attended exercise classes at the Senior Center, and played cards, Dominoes and Farkle with her friends. In her youth, Elaine enjoyed Country Cousins, square dancing, and being a Sunday school teacher. Elaine loved hosting the family’s annual July Jubilee get together as well as spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Orian; parents Horace & Caroline; sister-in-law Vergean Hogen; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Halvorson, Orlando Olson, Lynn Ramsey, Carrol Aamodt, and DeVere Steffensen.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Jan (Jaki) Aamodt of Shoreview, MN and Paul (Teresa) Aamodt of Lake Park, MN; five grandchildren, Carlin (Adam) Byrne, Ashley (Matt) Midthun, Travis (Alex) Aamodt, Jana Aamodt, and Brian Aamodt; and two great-grandchildren, Ela and Benjamin. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mavis (Halvorson) Olson and Norma Ramsey; a brother-in-law, Don (Faye) Aamodt; sisters-in-law, Clarine Steffensen and Maynis Aamodt; as well as many other friends and loved ones.  
Elaine will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
