Dorothy Mae Abrahamson
Dorothy Mae Abrahamson, 73, rural Northwood, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her home. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.Lake Mills Otto/Chose American Legion Post #235 performed military rites. Dorothy’s body was cremated after the service and inurnment will take place at a later date.
Dorothy Mae Abrahamson was born Nov. 26, 1944 in Dumont, the daughter of Harvey Alfred and Nadean Katherine (Kammerrer) Witte. She had six brothers and sisters; Joyce Cady, Pauline Leaman, Gary Witte, Jimmy Witte, Joan Witte and Mary Lou Witte.
Dorothy attended grade school at Dumont Community School and later attended and graduated from Hampton-Dumont High School.
She then enlisted in the United States Army Reserve Control Group. She joined the Army School and attended 72 F20 Data Communication Terminal Specs. She was Honorably Discharged after serving six years.
Dorothy married Ronald Dickinson and gave birth to Veronica (Dickinson) Peterson. She had Tim and Tony Abrahamson with Donald Kingland.
Dorothy had worked at Fleetguard Industries in Lake Mills, Iowa for many years.
Dorothy loved doing crafts. She had many ideas and plans. She loved making crafts for kids and called her group, Kraft’s 4 Kids. They donated much of their precious work to churches and donation centers. She also enjoyed cooking, creating and most of all, life.
Life was short for her husband; her son. Anthony J. (Tony) Abrahamson; and her daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and Dar Peterson. She is now in Heaven with them as they watch over Tim (Tricia Hannegrefs) Abrahamson; grandchildren: Kyle Peterson, and Christa (Duane) Westbrook; three great-granddaughters: Tia, Myrah and Keila Westbrook; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
