Dorothy Elizabeth (Kramer) Wubben, the daughter of Victoria Kramer, was born May 16, 1927 in Bancroft. She was baptized and received her first communion, as well as attended St. John’s Catholic School in Bancroft. She completed the eighth grade and then stayed home to help take care of her ailing grandmother.
On Aug. 23, 1946 Dorothy was united in marriage with John Boeckholt in Algona, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Alan, Victoria, Randy, and Sandra. The family made their home in Bancroft, Rolfe, and Swea City, Iowa. After John’s death in January 1969, Dorothy and the two youngest children moved to Buffalo Center.
Dorothy was married to Wayne Wubben, Aug. 23, 1972 in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in a few places in North Iowa, and in 1986 made their current place “home.”
Being a homemaker was something Dorothy was immeasurably proud of. She was always present raising her children, cooking and baking for her family, gardening and decorating to make her home inviting, and working hard to set an example for others to follow. She enjoyed canning vegetables, growing flowers, taking walks in the country, and watching soaps on TV. Dorothy will be remembered for her very intricate egg diorama art and wonderfully decorated sugar cookies.
She will be missed by her husband, Wayne Wubben, Leland; sons: Alan (Judy) Boeckholt, Buffalo Center; and Randy (Laura) Boeckholt, Forest City; a son-in-law, Marty Jutting, Lake Mills; nine grandchildren: Stacie, Brooke, Kris, Jon, Troy, Tony, Kelli, Jennifer and Tara; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Katie Kramer, Bancroft; nephew, Kenny Kramer; and niece Linda (Bob) Seal.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Victoria; husband, John Boeckholt; two daughters: Sandra Boeckholt and Victoria Jutting; brother, Francis Kramer; and niece, Kay.
