David Parnell Peterson

David Parnell Peterson, 72, Lake Mills, lost his tough battle with cancer Sunday, April 23, 2023. In his memory, the family will be holding a celebration of life, at his request, at a later date.
David was born Jan. 8, 1951, in Forest City, to Mary and Parnell Peterson, Mason City. He met his beautiful wife, Kathy, March 5, 1971, and they were united in marriage June 17, 1972 in Evergreen, Colo.
Dave enjoyed tinkering around and figuring out how to put things together and building things. He had a love for trains and enjoyed going to various places to watch trains and going to train shows with friends. He also enjoyed farming and raising hogs. He built his hog barns in 1997 and took pride in the work he did. He loved bike riding and Friday nights out with family and friends.
Dave’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts and minds of his many friends and family members.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; three daughters: Kindra (Dan) Dodd, Manly; Amy Steele (Rick Mandell), Watertown, S.D.; and Jessica (Travis) Severin, Lake Mills; parents, Parnell and Mary Peterson, Mason City; grandchildren: Brendon (Josh) Canada-Steele, Jaydon Steele, Abby Meyer, Landon Ingledue, Laylah Ingledue, and Nolan Severin; brother, Monte (Sosi) Peterson; and sisters: Lisa (Mark) Olson and Denise (Loren) Iverson; and beloved pets, Mia and Josie.
Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pete and Julia Peterson.
