David Dean Hartwig
David Dean Hartwig, 68, Mason City, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of North Iowa. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 12, aat First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. David Emmons officiating. Burial was held in State Line Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Muse Norris Hospice of Mason City.
David Hartwig was born Jan. 1, 1949 to Harold and Verna Hartwig. David went to school in St. Ansgar and Mason City schools, graduating from Mason City High School in 1967.
David was a man of many talents. He worked various jobs during his lifetime including engineering, construction and machine maintenance at Larson Manufacturing, where he retired in 2014.
In 1969, he married Susan Braun, St. Ansgar, and have resided in Northwood for 46 years. They had two children, Timothy and Angela.
David had many hobbies. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting, but his true passion was blacksmithing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan; son, Timothy (Hope) Hartwig, Manly; daughter, Angela Hartwig Green (Mark), Albany, Ga.; and two brothers: Gary (Jean) Hartwig, Northwood; and Duane (Jeanne) Hartwig, Waverlyfive grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Verna Hartwig; his father- and mother-in-law, Wilfred and Mae Braun; and sister- and brother-in-law, Marjory and Delmer Daniels.
