Curtis Arne Arneson

Curtis Arne Arneson, 81, Joice, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home surrounded by family and friends. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, July 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2Joice, with Pastor Randy Baldwin and Rev. Don Niederfrank officiating. Inurnment was held in Concordia Cemetery, Joice. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Bethany Lutheran Church or Concordia Cemetery.
Curtis was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Devils Lake, N.D., the son of the late Margaret (Kirkeby) and Arnold Arneson. He was the second of three children.
 On Oct. 23,1 955 he was united in marriage to Hope Darlene Nelson at Asbury Methodist Church, Lake Mills. She passed away May 31, 1969.
On June 5, 1970. He was united in marriage to Dilla Kae (Niederfrank) Kabrick at Bethany Lutheran Church, Joice.
Curtis graduated from Joice High School in 1953. He farmed for two years then worked as a tool and die maker/designer for 20 years, before returning home to farm in 1975 when his dad, Arnold, retired. He continued farming in the Joice area until his retirement in 1998, when his son, Doug, took over the family farm.
He served with the U.S. Army reserves, in the transportation division, for four years.
 Curtis enjoyed spending time with family, drinking coffee at the farm, playing cribbage, Texas hold’em and bridge, watching the western channel and, after retirement, spending the winters in McAllen, Texas.
He is survived by: his wife, Dilla Kae Arneson, Joice; his children; son and daughter-in-law, David and Rebecca Arneson, Joice; daughter, Debra Lopez, Joice; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mark Hoeft, Forest City; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cheri Arneson, Coralville; son, Donald Arneson, St Cloud, Minn.; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Donica Arneson, Joice; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Dr. Rebecca Arneson, Yorktown, Va.; grandchildren and great grandchildren: David’s family—Bill and Kim Arneson (Brody and Bella), Land O Lakes, Fla.; Kimberly and Brian Marshall (Lydia and Everett),North Liberty; Danielle Appel, Minneapolis, Minn.; Dr. Anthony Appel, Elk Point, S.D.: Drew Appel, Burnsville, Minn.; Debra’s family—Christopher and Melissa Izzett (Ashley), San Antonio, Texas; Nicholas Phillips (Delilah and Emmalyn), Fort Stewart, Ga.; Zachary Lopez, Joice; Susan’s family—Matt and Jennifer Hoeft (Elexis and Audrey), Garner; Jesse Hoeft, Forest City; Scott’s family—Kelsey and Derek Montross (Madison, Cassidy and Kinnick), North Liberty; Cody Arneson, Austin, Minn.; Lonie and Will Eggert (Rhett), Cedar Rapids; Adam Crossett, Coralville; Donald’s family—Harley Arneson,Green Isle, Minn.; Doug’s family—Samantha and Mike Petersburg (Emma and Jackson), Joice; Charles Arneson, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Tim’s family—Evan Arneson, Lexington, Ky.; Alaina Arneson, Yorktown, Va.; Eric Arneson, Yorktown, Va.; his siblings: sister, Clarice Hagen, Northwood; sister, Carol Luecht, Sheffield; brother-in-law, Donald and Susan Niederfrank, Port Washington, Wis.; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hope; brothers-in-law: Harold Hagen and Marlyn Luecht; and mother-in-law, Velva Niederfrank.
