Connie Rae Rasmusson

Connie R. Rasmusson, 61, formerly of Lake Mills, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home in rural Forest City. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, March 13, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, with Pastor Kent Otterman officiating. It was her wish to be cremated. It was also her wish that memorials be made to the Humane Society of North Iowa, 2700 Birch Drive SE, Mason City, Iowa 50401.
Connie Rae Rasmusson was born March 30, 1955 in Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Minn., daughter of Raymond and Shirley (Utabjaa) Dakin. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1973. She attended NIACC and Riverland. She had worked for Dakken Chiropractic in Lake Mills, Lake Mills Care Center and Forest Plaza Assisted Living as a CNA. She was also a CDAC Provider.
Connie loved being with her family and friends, particularly spending time with her grandparents when they were alive. She enjoyed helping people, she was kind hearted and seemed to light up when she had the opportunity to cheer someone up. She had a heart of gold.
 Connie enjoyed antiques and had a special place for animals, especially her dogs.
Connie was extremely proud of her son, Eric, for turning his life around and all of his accomplishments.
She is survived by her son, Eric Millard, and his special friend, Brooke Shoafstall, Manly; her loving parents, Shirley and Raymond Dakin, Mason City; her significant other, Steve Twedt, Forest City;  her brother, Bob (Juli) Dakin, Elizabethtown, Ky.; along with numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Connie was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; two aunts; and her godson, Tyler Brighton.
