Bonnie M. Urban

Bonnie M. Urban, 86, Lake Mills, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit, Mason City.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Lake Mills, with Pastor Robert Lanphere officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service, but the family would like to warmly invite everyone in attendance to come downstairs for lunch and sharing your “Bonnie” memories following the memorial service at the church.Inurnment will take place in Cedar Cemetery, Cherokee, at a later date. Family suggests that memorials can be made to: Asbury United Methodist Church, Lake Mills, or Humane Society of North Iowa, Mason City.
Bonnie M. Urban was born June 21, 1931 in Sutherland, the daughter of Harold E. and Marvel Mae (Davis) Elsbury. She attended school and graduated from Sutherland High School.
On June 25, 1949, she was united in marriage to Wayne M. Urban in Boise, Idaho. They moved to Lake Mills in 1961. She worked at Lake Mills Family Optometry, for Dr. Ronald Jost and Dr. Dennis Thompson, for 35 years.
Bonnie loved gardening and “puttering” in her yard. She never met a dog that she didn’t like. She loved all dogs, her last dog, Muttsey, in particular. She loved shopping, finding a bargain and shopping. Did we mention that she loved to shop?
Bonnie was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving children; son, Ron (Jan) Urban, Columbia, S.C.; daughter, Kelly Krapek, Minnetonka, Minn.; grandchildren: John Krapek (Becky Engel), St. Paul, Minn.; Annie Krapek (Joel Hilden), Minneapolis, Minn.; and Robert (Jordan) Urban; great-grandson, Davis Urban, Savannah, Ga; sister, Janet Bringle, Spencer; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; and three brothers: Irvin Elsbury, Donald Elsbury and Bernard Elsbury.
