Blanche D. Grunhovd
Blanche D. Grunhovd, 82, Lake Mills, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 27, at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, with Pastor Joel Guttormson officiating. Burial was held in Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, was in charge of arrangements.
Blanche Delores Grunhovd was born Aug. 11, 1934 in Forest City, the daughter of John and Maggie (Anderson) McClain. She was the youngest of 13 children.
Blanche was united in marriage with Kermit Ellsworth Grunhovd in 1962 at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills. Together, they lived on the Grunhovd homestead where they farmed and raised their two children.
Blanche also worked at the Lake Mills Care Center as a Nurses Aid for several years. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was active in church circles. She was also a long time member of American Legion Auxiliary.
Blanche is survived by her two children: Laurie (Roger) Downing, Lake Mills; and Kyle (friend, Julie Schutz) Grunhovd, Emmons, Minn.; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kermit in 2015; her siblings: Eva Kluver, Beulah Brue, Margaret Johnson, Ethel Waage, Velma Halverson, Velva Bang, William McClain, Johnnie McClain, Austin McClain, George McClain, Andrew McClain and Wilma Harang.
