Betty J. Honsey

Betty J. Honsey, 73, rural Emmons, Minn., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at her home. Funeral services were held at Emmons Lutheran Church, Saturday, March 16, with Rev. Dr. David E. Schafer officiating. Cremation followed the service with inurnment at Oak Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
Betty Jane (Miller) Honsey was born March 21, 1945 in Waseca, Minn., to parents Rueben and Irene (Arndt) Miller. She attended and graduated from Janesville High School in 1963.
On July 11, 1964 Betty was united in marriage with Curtis D. Honsey in Janesville, Minn. The couple was married for 54-1/2 years, farming together, raising their four children, and enjoying their grandchildren on their farm north of Emmons. Having been raised on a farm herself, Betty knew what it took to be a farmer’s wife; she enjoyed mowing lawn, gardening, and raising pigs.
In addition to the farm life with Curtis, Betty spent free time reading, collecting angels, and golfing, and she worked at Fleetguard for 15 years. Yet nothing compared to the moments she was able to share with her grandchildren. What a blessing each of them were to Grandma.
Betty is survived by her husband, Curtis, Emmons, Minn.; four children: Nancy Fell, Westbrook, Minn.; Julie (David) Evenson, Lake Mills; Andrea (Clint) Heesch, Seymour; and Michael (Krista) Honsey, Buffalo, Minn.; grandchildren: Curtis (Taryn) Fell, Katie (fiancé Shane Vanderpol) Fell, Tell (Karis) Heesch, Wyatt (fiancée Jackie Edmundson) Heesch, Paige Heesch, and Marley, Harper and Hayden Honsey; and one great-grandson, Turner Heesch; sister, Barbara (Dale) Flo, LeSueur, Minn.; mother-in-law, Berdine Honsey, Emmons, Minn.; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert, in infancy; and her father-in-law, Homer Honsey.
