Bernice Katherine Garvick
Bernice Katherine Garvick, 90, Kiester, Minn., passed away Thursday, May 25, 2018, at the Lake Mills Care Center, Lake Mills. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 2, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Kiester, Minn., at 2 p.m., officiated by Pastor Katie Pals. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, from 5-7 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Kiester, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Kiester. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is handling arrangements.
Bernice was born Nov. 1, 1926 in Mansfield, Minn., the daughter of William and Emma (Paul) Seedorf. She married Henry “Hank” Garvick on March 8, 1947. Bernice was a Gold Star Mother, and was proud of her son, Daryl’s service in Vietnam. She was a loving homemaker, and an excellent cook. She enjoyed sewing and needlework. Bernice was a faithful and active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in quilting groups. Bernice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always interested in what was going on in their lives.
Bernice is survived by her children: Darlene “Dolly” Gregor, Lake Mills; and Dale (Janet) Garvick, Kiester, Minn.; grandchildren: Jeff Miller (Dorie Paulus), Joice; Julie (Shawn) Helgeson, Lake Mills; Holly (Daniel) Germscheid and Jill Garvick, both of Le Center, Minn.; and Jason (Amanda) Garvick, Kiester, Minn.; step-grandchildren: Cory (Emilie) Gregor, and Dallas (Karin) Gregor, all of Des Moines; and Andy Gregor, Lake Mills; eight great-grandchildren: Jaci Miller, Tyler, Karli, Carter Helgeson, Brendan, Emma, and Jackson Germscheid, and Aiden Garvick; and four step-great-grandchildren: Gaven and Graysen Gregor, and Lucas and Vivian Gregor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank; son, Daryl; son-in-law, Bruce Gregor; one grandson in infancy, and granddaughter, Carla Mae; brothers: Floyd and Alfred Seedorf; sisters: Tina Mueller, Birdella Wegner, and Evelyn Iverson; brothers-in-law: George, Marvin, Morris, Milford, Richard, Lars, and Junior; sisters-in-law: Ida, Anna, and Lillian; and many other relatives and friends.
