Barbara A. Holstad
Barbara A. Holstad, 79, Lake Mills, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019 at her home. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, from 3-5 p.m. at the Truman Helgeson Civic Center, Lake Mills, during which, a vigil will be led by Father Paul Lippstock. A Memorial Mass will be held in the fall at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Lake Mills. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Barbara Ann (Haugh) Holstad was born Dec. 28, 1939 in Wells, Minn., to parents Albert and Emily (Fendrich) Haugh. She attended and graduated from Wells High School and went on to attend beauty school.
Barb and Stanley L. Holstad were married May 22, 1965 at St. James Catholic Church, Forest City. They made their home in Lake Mills, where Barb spent time working at the Lake Mills Community Daycare and Preschool, Dollar General, and Fleetguard.
Her warm smile and cheerful hello were always genuine. She constantly encouraged her children and grandchildren, supporting all of their decisions, yet standing by with open arms if needed. Barb was a hard worker and still found time to be the biggest Minnesota Twins fan ever. She also loved the Vikings, taking care of children, doing needlework and having Lilly dog (her four-legged fur baby) by her side through it all. The times spent with grandchildren, family and friends will be memories to cherish.
Barb is survived by her three children: Steve (Stacey) Holstad, South Saint Paul, Minn.; Terri Meyer, Joice; and Amy (Les) Prange, Wells, Minn.; grandchildren: Ray (Starr) Fjelstad, Lake Mills; Cameo (Beau) Honsey, Iowa Falls; Ben Meyer, Joice; Jake Meyer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Sierra (Aston) Holstad, San Francisco, Calif.; Andy (Kenzie) Meyer, Lake Mills; Hannah (Tyler) Knudtson, Sneads Ferry, N.C.; and Caleb Prange, Conner Prange and Riley Prange, all of Wells, Minn.; four great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph (Kathy) Haugh, Newell; sister-in-law Pam Haugh Holzer, Rochester, Minn.; many extended relatives and friends; and her beloved dog, Lilly.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Stanley, in 2017; a sister, Janet Haugh; and brother, Dave Haugh.
