Barbara Ann Thompson Bondari
Barbara Ann Thompson Bondari, 75, Tifton, Ga., passed away, Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at her home. A graveside service for Barbara will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 11, at Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lake Mills, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. The public is invited and social distancing requirements will be observed. A private service was held Monday, May 4, at First Presbyterian Church, Tifton, Ga., with Reverend Jarred Hammet officiating. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
Mrs. Bondari was born Aug. 10, 1944, in Mason City, the daughter of Lester and Opal Thompson, both now deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Khorsand (Kaine) Bondari in January 2016.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University, she taught English as a foreign language in a German Junior High School in Delmenhorst, Germany for one year.
After returning to the U.S., she taught math and German in Des Moines and Ames. She also taught German and math and was an elementary librarian at the Tehran American School, Tehran, Iran, where she lived for four years. She received her Master’s Degree and Education Specialist Degree from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Bondari was the school librarian for 27 years at Northeast Campus, TCHS (formerly Tift County Junior High School) in Tifton, Ga.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting afghans, making beaded Christmas ornaments, researching her Norwegian ancestry, and doing water aerobics at the YMCA. Her favorite flowers were yellow roses.
Mrs. Bondari is survived by sons: Bradley, Tifton, Ga.; Brian and daughter-in-law, Katrina; grandson, Lawrence; and granddaughters: Emma and Eva, San Antonio, Texas; her brothers Gary (Patricia) Thompson, LeRoy (Elda) Thompson, and Mark (Victoria) Thompson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
