Allen Eugene Hagenson

October 27, 1950 – March 20, 2019

Allen Eugene Hagenson, 68, Thompson, passed away at his home Wednesday, March 20, 2019.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 25, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson, with Pastor Joel L. Guttormson and Pastor Zech Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, March 24, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Thompson.
Allen Eugene Hagenson was born Oct. 27, 1950 in Forest City, to Marion and Marjorie (Harlson) Hagenson. Allen was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson.
He attended Thompson Community School and graduated with the Class of 1968. After high school, he joined his father, Marion, in the family business, Hagenson Trenching. From 1989 until his retirement, he worked as a self-employed mechanic and later a heavy equipment mechanic for Waste Systems, Lake Mills.
On June 14, 1969, Allen married Wendy Lee Brackey at Bethany Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born: Scott, Brandon, and Heidi.
During his retirement years, Allen and Wendy enjoyed many pontoon rides with the grandchildren on Clear Lake. Allen enjoyed helping people and fixing anything that was broke. In the spare time, he could be found at his shop tinkering with projects and drinking coffee for hours with his many friends that would stop in and visit. Allen truly believed that grandchildren and ice cream were meant to be together and were the best part of life.
Allen was involved in many community groups, the Thompson Businessman’s Club, Bethany Lutheran Church Council, Thompson City council and the Thompson Fire Department.
Allen is survived by his wife, Wendy, of 49 years; sons: Scott (Shelley) Hagenson, Lake Mills; and Brandon (Jean) Hagenson, Kiester, Minn.; daughter, Heidi (Ron) Van Halle, Fairport, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Peter, Mitchell, Lauren, Sam, Allie and Olivia; brother, Dennis (Vicki) Hagenson, Webster City; in-laws, Don and Donna Anderson, Thompson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Marjorie Hagenson; his grandparents: P.K. and Anna Hagenson; and John and Amelia Harlson; and niece and nephew, Christopher Nyguard and Grace Lampman.
