Agnes H. Christ

Agnes H. Christ, 95, Lake Mills, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at the Lake Mills Care Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 31, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating.Burial was held in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Lakota. Family suggests that memorials be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, was in charge of arrangements.
Agnes Hulda Brattlund was born May 3, 1921, in Bancroft, to parents Axel and Mary (Vokoun) Braatlund. She attended and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1938. Agnes worked at the school as a secretary to the superintendent.
She enjoyed dancing and met her husband at one of the dances at the Bancroft Ballroom. Agnes was wed to Arvid Christ on Oct. 25, 1942. To this union, three children were born: Neil, John and Rosemary.
The family made their home in rural Scarville, where they farmed and raised livestock. Agnes loved her flower gardens, embroidery, water-color painting, and playing cards. They moved to Lake Mills in 2004.
Agnes and Arvid wintered in Texas for 25 years, and they had a lifelong love of dancing together, they even had the privilege of dancing to the Lawrence Welk Orchestra at the Surf Ballroom. It is reassuring to know that they are dancing together once again this Christmas season.
Surviving are her two sons: Neil (Sherry) Christ, Lake Mills; and John Christ, Denver, Colo.; daughter, Rosemary (Darrell) Nelson, Emmons, Minn.; grandchildren: Jason (Meredith) Christ, Nic (Linda) Christ, and Craig Christ; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Alex, Ben, Anika and Camden; brother-in-law, Junior Christ; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arvid; sister and her husband, Loretta “Lefty” and Marvin Luedtke; sister-in-law Dorothy Christ; and a nephew, Terry Luedtke.
