Winnebago County Firefighters Association holds ice rescue training in bitter cold temps
Winnebago County Firefighters Association held ice rescue training Saturday, Jan. 19, at Crystal Lake, with the Clear Lake Fire Department providing the training.
Fire departments participating included Clear Lake, Forest City, Lake Mills, Scarville, and Buffalo Center, along with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Garner Ambulance
Temps were in the single digits Saturday, with windchills below zero, but the water suits (pictured left) are designed to keep firefighters warm up to six hours. Everyone had a chance to put on a suit and be a rescuer or rescuee. Classroom training was provided prior to firefighters going out to the lake.
