Scam Alert

The Lake Mills Police Dept. is reporting a local phone/computer scam. The company calls (cell phone and land line numbers), claiming to be from Microsoft and they have discovered fraudulent activity on your computer. They ask you to allow them to remotely access your computer and then try to sell you a firewall package. They will ask you for your credit card or to send them money via Western Union.
You should not let anyone remotely access your computer if it is not your local computer company or local technician. And you should never give out personal information over the phone, especially credit card numbers or people asking for money via Western Union.
