Plaque placed at Leonard Fjelstad Memorial Complex
The plaque reads: “In July 1994, after two years of planning, the Softball Committee (Chairman, Bonnie Steffens), presented a plan to the City Council for a softball/baseball facility to serve the Lake Mills’ youth. In September of that year, Mayor Dave Steffens and wife, Bonnie, donated the land for this project. A committee of twelve citizens was formed to oversee the project, and after many hours of planning and fund-raising, the first game was played on June 19, 1995. The complex was donated to the City of Lake Mills in memory of Bonnie’s late father, Leonard Fjelstad. The Park Board maintains the facility through generous donations from area businesses as well as City Funding.”
