Pederson receives Honorary Iowa Pioneer Lawmaker Award
John Pederson, son of Phyllis and the late Stan Pederson, Lake Mills, was the recipient of an award from the 89th General Assembly at the State Capitol, Wednesday, March 27. The Iowa Legislature went into a joint session to recognize new members of the Pioneer Lawmakers Assocation.
Former and current legislators are eligible 20 years after they were first elected. Current legislators nominate and select other individuals who have served the legislature or Capitol over the years. This includes staff, liaisons, lobbyists, and others who have contributed to serving the public interest.
John has been a lobbyist for the past 30 years. He started in 1989 as a lobbyist for the Professional Firefighters Assocation. He then lobbied for the Attorney General’s Office, the Governor’s office, and for his own business, Pederson Consulting.
Many friends, clients, and family attended the ceremony to help celebrate John’s award. Those attending were: Phyllis Pederson, Ree Pederson-Moore, Steve Pederson and Don Helgeson, Lake Mills. Barb Pederson-Berry, Colorado; Bill and Yvette Pederson, Ohio; Sam and Jean Pederson, Minnesota; Kevin and Carolyn Pederson, Oskaloosa; John’s nephew, Jeff Pederson, and Russ Appel, Webster City; John’s daughters, Allison and Andrew Inhelder, Libby, Joe, Jackson, and Keagan Crimmings, and his wife, Cyndi.
