LMHS Music students reign the day at State contest

Lake Mills High School Chorus and Band students had great success at the recent Iowa High School Music Association’s State Solo/Ensemble Contest.  
The following soloists earned Division 1 (Superior) ratings for their performances:
Libby Heagel—Tenor Saxophone
Trace Gau—Euphonium Solo
Cooper Rogness—Clarinet Solo
Aaron Mathahs—Alto Saxophone Solo
Brianna Renneker—Flute Solo
Jareth Cross—Baritone Saxophone Solo & Vocal Solo
Emma Martinson—Vocal Solo
Lydia Saxton—Vocal Solo
Yaneidi Albino—Vocal Solo
Cooper Rogness, Jareth Cross, and Lydia Saxton all received perfect scores for their solo performances. Two vocal ensembles received perfect scores for their performances as well.
Cooper Rogness and the two vocal ensembles were each awarded Best of Center for their outstanding performances.
In all, Lake Mills musicians took top honors in three out of the four performance centers. They will be featured at the IHSMA Outstanding Performers Showcase at Iowa State University, May 16.
