LMHS Music Dept. earns Division I at Large Group Contest
On Saturday, May 4, the Lake Mills High School chorus and band traveled to Fort Dodge for the Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA) Large Group Contest. The chorus, under the direction of Linda Saxton, performed “And Can It Be,” arranged by Dan Forrest and “Lamentations of Jeremiah” by Z. Randall Stroope. The chorus was accompanied by pianist Mindy Sletten. The band, under the direction of Nate Sletten, performed “March of the Belgian Paratroopers” composed by Pierre Leemans and arranged by James Swearingen and the four movements of “Elements (Petite Symphony)” by Brian Balmage. Both ensembles earned high Division I (Superior) ratings from all three judges. The LMCS music department appreciates all the support and encouragement from the community to these fine musicians throughout the school year.
