LMHS chorus and band earn Division I ratings
On Saturday, May 5, the Lake Mills High School chorus and band traveled to Osage for the Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA) Large Group Contest.
The chorus, under the direction of Linda Saxton, performed “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” arranged by Gilbert Martin and “Great God Almighty,” a traditional African-American spiritual arranged by Stacey Gibbs.
The band, under the direction of Nate Sletten, performed all four movements of “Symphony No. 4” by Andrew Boysen, Jr.
The performances by both ensembles earned high Division I (Superior) ratings from all three judges.
The exceptional work of these music students throughout the year was aided by the support of parents and community members alike.
