LMCS sixth through 12th grade Fall Vocal Concert

The Lake Mills Vocal Music Department will be presenting their annual Fall Concert next Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in the LMCS high school gymnasium. The concert’s theme is, “Songs of the South.” Chorus members in grades six through 12 will be performing an evening of songs from around the globe, including the southern U.S., Mexico, South America, Australia, and Africa. Students in three vocal ensembles will share folk songs and spirituals including titles such as “Old Dan Tucker,” “Oh Won’t You Sit Down,” “Cindy,” “Soon Ah Will Be Done” “La Cucaracha,” “Polly Wolly Doodle,” and several songs in native languages. The concert will culminate with the 160-member mass chorus singing Christopher Tin’s popular song, “Baba Yetu.” The concert is under the direction of Linda Saxton, accompanied by pianist, Mindy Sletten. The public is encouraged to attend this free concert.
